Proposal

Canada is one of the world's largest energy consumers. Majority of the primary energy is obtained from natural gases, oil, coal etc, which is about 75 percent of our total primary energy. In the matter of electricity itself, in 2007, 79 percent were generated from the combustion of coal, 14 percent from natural gas, and only 1.3 percent from renewable energy simulators. Canada's strong reliance on different kinds of fossil fuels resulted 747 mega tonnes of GHG (Greenhouse Gas) released in 2007 of carbon dioxide (Natural Resources Canada). Overall this shows that in long-term this will be another step to global warming. One of the best solutions to this; is to prevent fossil fuel emissions in the air; is to increase the usage of renewable energy. Using solar photovoltaic panels (PV) and micro-wind turbines, will immediately reduce GHG emissions. It also reduces the amount of fossil fuels released in the air.
Solar cells of Photovoltaic Solar Panel (PV) convert direct sunlight into electrical energy, capturing the photons to produce DC current. Using an inverter the DC current in transferred and stored as an AC current. PV panels can be used anywhere, in any case the panel will lower consumer costs.
Micro-Wind is one of the most rapidly growing sources of energy. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy of wind into electrical or mechanical energy. In Canada, the residential use of wind turbines can be used to power a cottage or remote house etc.

The overall objective of this research is to provide the benefits of renewable energy systems in low-rise housing.

Revised Proposal

  1. Renewable energy is good. We all know that. So, what new direction will your research take? How will it be applied? Who will benefit from this research? You need to really sell people on your idea if you are going to generate discussion on your blog.

  2. I think it may be a good idea to refine your research to a particular area. For example wind turbines cant be used everywhere in canada. Maybe try a particular province. Also have you looked into hyrdo power from dams. I know BC produces lots of energy that way and its renewable.

  3. Like David stated above (PV) panels are not ideal in some norther climates. I don't know if your fixated on solar power generation, but you could look into Wind as another nice energy supplier.
